Functional Fabric

The advances in functional fabrics have completely changed the textile industry. It is now possible to engineer the yarns to create many desired effects. Whether it’s functional technology or finishes that are used, we can develop custom textiles for you that go above and beyond the ordinary. From copper ions to wicking to anti-microbial, we have you covered.

Functional Finishes:

Fine Cotton has teamed up with industry partners who offer some of the latest cutting-edge technologies in textile finishing and applications. Finishing is the final stage in fabric production where ingredients are added to the fibres to provide characteristics such as moisture wicking, stain resistance, anti-microbial or water-proofing, to name a few. We would be happy to consult with you to determine the right finishing applications for your fabric.

Functional Fabrics We Have

Copper

CuTEC ® is a unique and proprietary copper fiber that utilized the qualities of copper and permanently binds copper to the fiber matrix of polyester, nylon and spun poly fibers. The products that contain CuTEC ® help reduce odor, improve hygiene with anti-microbial properties and enhance the look and feel of the skin for a more youthful appearance. The benefits of copper have been known for hundreds of years by cultures all around the globe. Allow us to use copper CuTEC ® yarns in your next project. This technology is a permanent part of the fiber which will not wash or wear out and lasts the lifetime of the fabric.

Celliant

Celliant is a different type of performance technology. Decades of development has resulted in a proprietary fiber that is loaded with a mix of thermo-reactive minerals powered by the human body. Celliant puts body heat back to work by turning energy that is normally wasted into infared light. This acts as a catalyst to improve circulation, cell performance and recovery, temperature regulation, a more restful sleep and an increase in overall wellbeing. Celliant is a permanent part of the fibre structure and will not wash or wear out. It also delivers the benefits of infrared light to nearly every application where textiles are used, including apparel, bedding, healthcare and veterinary and is highly customizable.

Tencel

Tencel® is a branded lyocell fiber of botanic (raw wood) origin. It is a naturally eco-friendly closed loop production process. When Tencel® is used in production the textiles are naturally more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen. The uses for Tencel® fibers are versatile and can be found in mattresses, bed linens, sportswear and activewear.

Micro-Modal

Made from sustainably grown and harvested European beech wood trees, MicroModal® fine cellulose fiber has the softness of silk and the breathability of cotton. Compared to modal, MicroModal® uses a finer fiber that is even lighter and softer which makes an ultra-luxurious knit fabric with a wonderful drape. The closed-loop production of this fiber makes in an excellent eco-friendly option.
